Located in the historical centre of Sant'Ilario dello Ionio, Palazzo Vitale is one of the village's most fascinating architectural testimonies. Today home to the Town Hall and the municipal historical archive, it represents a point of reference for the local community.
Built between the late 19th and early 20th century, the palace is a symbol of refinement, with its imposing façade, wrought-iron balconies and interiors rich in original details. Inside are tall, light-filled rooms, ornate vaults and period floors that tell the story of a family rooted in the territory and deeply connected to the cultural and political life of the community.
Today, the palace is the subject of enhancement projects, with the aim of restoring its cultural vocation and transforming it into a space dedicated to art and sharing. The museum of rural civilisation and Mediterranean flavours is part of these projects: inaugurated on the ground floor of the palace, it houses numerous ancient artefacts, fundamental for a reconstruction of past agricultural and production techniques. The museum is designed to host multimedia events, installations and cultural, food and wine and educational activities, thus becoming a true laboratory and research centre.
