Feast of St Leonard

Feast of St Leonard

The Feast of St Leonard owes its origin to St Leonard of Noblac, the patron saint of Portigliola, who is venerated as the protector of prisoners and women in labour. During the festivities held on 9 November, the statue of the saint is carried in procession through the streets of the town, accompanied by solemn chants and the band. The celebration is enriched by music, fireworks and gastronomic stands, where typical dishes and sweets of the Calabrian tradition are enjoyed, in an atmosphere of feasting and sharing.
